Jio’s Wifi Calling: Vo-WiFi Goes Live In These 3 Circles with all ISP Support.

Reliance Jio has silently rolled out the Wi-Fi calling service in Delhi NCR, Chennai. It’s worth mentioning that Reliance Jio along with Airtel, has been testing the voice over Wi-Fi service, also called Wi-Fi Calling since November last year. Several Reliance Jio customers have posted screenshots of Jio Wi-Fi branding appearing around the carrier name area on various smartphones. We can independently confirm the rollout.

Airtel late last month expanded the availability of its Wi-Fi Calling service in Mumbai, Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu after initial rollout in Delhi and NCR.

The latest move will help Jio improve indoor voice calling experience for its users. VoWiFi addresses problems of insufficient coverage, especially indoors where even with the VoLTE. Analysts are of the view that telcos can attract more subscribers using VoWiFi or retain subscribers by offering better indoor calling experience. In addition, they would come up with competitive packages to increase revenue and competitiveness.

We could make calls using Jio Wi-Fi Calling on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, Samsung Galaxy S10e, Redmi K20 Pro and few more premium devices from Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, and more.

What is Wi-Fi calling? Jio Wi-Fi calling and Airtel Wi-Fi calling compared

For those unaware, the Wi-Fi Calling service lets users make and receive calls and texts (SMS and MMS) over a Wi-Fi connection. This means that people who use Wi-Fi Calling compatible devices can start making calls or send texts the same as you would over a cellular connection. Notably, no separate app or log-in or number is needed.
